DESCRIPTION

In this project, we devised a new method of creating molds for an injection molding machine. The conventional method of creating a mold involves the usage of subtractive manufacturing processes on a billet of steel. We changed this process by using additive manufacturing technology to create a mold.

Process Flow:

We started by taking measurements of the original mold. Then, we created the mold design for a gear and rack mechanism. Proper considerations were given for pathway design. A detailed description is shown below:
